Krewe of Barkus 2012 – Mckinney

It was just beautiful in Downtown Mckinney for Krewe of Barkus this year. Which was really nice because I was rained out of DFW Pug Rescues Pug Love Fun Run on Saturday. I can remember a few past years where it was frigidly cold and windy.

I was the official photographer for Krewe of Barkus which meant I had a lot of extra responsibilities. Usually I get to just play around taking pictures and petting all the great dogs. This year I had to make sure I captured photos of everyone that entered the parade with their great, creative costumes, photograph the parade itself as everyone tossed out Mardi Gras beads, candy for the kids and dog treats for all the pups on the side walks and also the photos of all the winners as they brought them on stage for their awards and prizes. To say that I did a lot of running around would be an understatement. Thanks to the great team managing the event everything went very smooth.

I only got a chance to wonder through all of the vendors booths quickly but I met a few new ones who had some interesting products. I hope they come out to some more events so I get a chance to really look at what they have to offer!

Since the weather was so nice and my wife, Katie, did not have to work a booth promoting my photography, she was able to bring my Bulldog, Cooper. He was happy to see and be pet by everyone but man was he stubborn. Bulldogs have those days. I think he wanted to just lay down and sun bath but we put him to work instead. We tried out Bulldog Cam. I attached a Go Pro camera to his harness so we could see what he see’s wondering through the event. Krewe of Barkus from a Bulldog’s perspective… As I guessed everyone was super interested in him and the camera and he loved the attention and love. I am working on editing the video now and hope you think it is as fun as I do.
