I love it when a rescue comes together!

Yesterday I received a frantic call from a friend that a really sweet, female pit bull had wondered into her garage and was just following her around.  I asked her to send me a picture of the dog and since she was not wearing a collar or tags to take her to a vet office in order to scan the stray for a microchip. My friend loaded her up into the car and headed to the nearest vet. Unfortunately, they were unable to find a micro chip.

Once I found out that the young dog had no microchip I started to reach out to my friends in rescue. I started with Yvonne who runs Dallas Dog Life and allways has her finger on the pulse of the dog comunity. She gave me a few good leads. Then I called Beth from Power to the Pawz because I know she loves pit bulls and keeps track of who is available to take in new ones.

Beth gave me the great idea to take the sweet girl to the candlelight vigil going on 4/20/12 for Justice the Pit Bull that was just recently burned to death. We knew there would be a lot of Pit Bull freindly people there and we would have our best chance of finding either a good foster for this sweet girl or a new home!!

Now my friend who decided to take the sweet dog up to Three Dog Bakery in Plano to see if they had any ideas for what to do with her.  They give her a few ideas and a new collar and leash for the dog so that she would be easier to keep track of.

I told my friend about the plan that Beth came up with which means we needed to find a place for this dog to board for the night as my friend already has 5 dogs of her own and was not up to introducing them all. This is when I started to find a place for her to stay the night. Which is when Dr. Mensik of Country Creek Animal Hospital in Allen stepped up and offered to check the dog out and board her over night.

Then the night got better… We all met at Country Creek Animal Hospital and Dr. Mensik decided to check for a micro chip again…..Turns out she had one!!!!

We called the number and sure enough the dog lives just a street away from my friend that found the dog and she had jumped out of an open window at their home. The dogs name is Tula!!!

I can’t tell you how happy this made everyone involved! We all love a happy ending and this one was made possible by a wonderful team of people and a simple microchip!

So glad they checked a second time for that chip or that poor baby may have never found her way home. Great work Mark! Glad she’s home now.

She’s gorgeous, well done to everyone who helped her. Scary the microchip was missed the first time though, thank goodness it was checked for again!
